This 1970 914-6 GT was built to full Group 4 racing specifications by Porsche’s racing department in the Spring of 1970. It was initially ordered by Porsche’s Portuguese Importer and distributor, Messrs AS Motors Sociedade. It remained unused and stored at the Porsche Factory until it was sold and imported to Bozzani Porsche-Audi of Monrovia, CA on June 26, 1971.

On February 10th, 1972 it was sold new with 80kms on the odometer to Charles Grimes and Howard De Haven of Tulsa Oklahoma. SCCA rule changes in 1972 and 1973 ruled the car obsolete, so it was never raced professionally. By August of 1985, the 914-6 passed into the ownership of Howard De Haven with just 1,933 original kilometers following Charles Grimes passing. Over the next 19 years, De Haven added 630 kilometers at various club events and track sessions around the Oklahoma area. In November 2003, William Noon purchased the car with just 2,563 kilometers specifically to participate in the 2004 European Tour Auto and Le Mans Classic.

914-6 GT chassis 1571 is a remarkable example of a fully documented and highly original factory-built Group 4 competition car. It features a number of unique factory modifications not typically seen on other 914-6 GTs- such as additional reinforcements, brackets, covers, and plugs to close empty component holes and access points typically fitted on road cars, built-in rain shields in the engine lid, and a black 914/6 Volkswagen-Porsche script.
