It wasn’t until 1972 when Porsche started toying with the idea of pulling from their race technology and putting a turbo in a 911, which we got in 1975. Even though the intent was to gain homologation for the ‘76 racing season, the 930 immediately gained popularity among consumers.
1977 was the last of the 3.0 liter Turbos, with slight improvements in its third and final year. Most notably the K-Jetronic fuel system was refined, the gearbox reinforced, thicker brake rotors to combat fade, and upgraded gear set to match the larger 16” wheel size. Overall the improvements led to the most exceptional driving experience one can have in a 3.0 930, and a unique experience only one can explain after spending time behind the wheel of one.
