This is one of a handful special paint ordered 4.0 liter GT3RS’s and one of two painted Dark Sea Blue. It is number 461 out of 600 for the world and just finished an annual service.

Like the 1973 911RS, the GT3RS 4.0 liter has already achieved iconic status in the Porsche community. It is the most extreme back-to-basics new Porsche money can buy and represents the swan song for the Hans Metzger-designed flat-six motor.

The GT3 RS 4.0 stands for the capacity of the naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine. The increase from 3.8 to 4.0 liters and the addition of some race car engine mechanicals results in 500 hp at 8,250 rpm and maximum torque of 339 lb-ft at 5,750 rpm. That’s an increase of 50 hp and 22 lb-ft of torque compared to the GT3 RS 3.8. It also weighs less than the GT3 RS 3.8 by about 22 pounds due to front fenders and a front lid made of carbon fiber, carbon fiber seats, and even “weight-optimized” carpets. As a result, it can lap the Nürburgring in seven minutes and 27 seconds, sprint zero-to-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, hit the 124-mph mark in less than 12 seconds, and proceed on to a top speed of 193 mph.

Also new in 2011 for the Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 are small slits on either side of the front bumper called “flics” or “dive planes”, which produce additional down force at extreme speeds.

This special ordered Dark Sea Blue 4.0 liter would make a great edition to any RS themed collection, or as the sole representative of the Rennsport philosophy.
